First day at Mount View PS, April 20th, 2015

On the first day of school we had an Aussie breakfast at 7:30 in the staff room. We had toast with Vegimite and butter, cereal, orange juice and pancakes.  All the host families came. After that, we went on a school tour which made us feel like we were rock stars because there were posters everywhere saying nice things about us. When we went past classes, kids were waving at us, which made us feel important to them.  After the tour, we came back to our ISSE room to re-group.

The school is very nice and is really spread out with with classroom doors on the outside. We went to classes with our hosts students.  The day ended with a special assembly to welcome us. We walked in together and they played the Australian national anthem, our national anthem and an Aboriginal song. Guests included the US Vice Consulate and the Consulate office manager who had attended CU Boulder and lived in Fort Collins. We went up to the front and we were introduced to the whole school. They gave us all a welcome present.

After school, everyone went home real excited about tomorrow's trip to Healesville Animal Sanctuary.
